The Digi Lab is up and Running
Our first Adobe Photoshop classes on the new computers have already begun. Our first Digital Scrapbooking class is scheduled for mid-July. Check the schedule for details. We are very excited about the digital program and want to see lots of people in here using these computers! We also have the large format scanner (seen below) large enough for scanning 12x12 scrapbooking pages, and the wide format printer. Right now we're only allowing self-helpers who have taken the digital classes to use the printer. But soon (like when we have some more staff) we'll be able to allow self-helpers to just go in and do their own printing. Stop by for more information about classes and the possibilities of using the computer lab.
Basic Grey does Fabric!
These are a few of my favorite things...
The sun is out and it's hot. Wait no... it's cloudy and pouring down rain... nope, hot again. That's pretty much one day in Germany right now. As a result... it's been pretty darn quiet in the store these last two weeks. We've had bursts of customers, but then long lonely afternoons. So what have my crazy girls been up to? Not twiddling their thumbs! Here's some of my favorite new displays from around the store:
This is a new bin Corinnea ordered to hold buttons. They didn't know what to do with the other two sections at first, but came up with putting the loose thread in there! It looks so great! Now we just need one of those little metal scoops for the buttons like they use at the candy store.
These are some new bundles and jelly rolls featuring new Moda fabric Corinnea ordered from the Quilt Market.Monday, June 23, 2008

New New New!
New fabric! We got in 4 new lines of fabric this past week! Only 3 are shown so you'll have to come in to see the other one!
We have a new consigner! You have to see these dragonflies in person. They are all hand beaded by Jenny B.

Have you seen this?
These kits were ordered at the CHA show in February and they are way cool! It is a kit for making your own scrapbook. Everything comes in the kit that you need except for the cover. That's where your creativity comes in. Use fabric or paper to cover your album and embellish it with ribbon, stickers, or whatever. Some ideas:
- Fabric: we have TONS of awesome fabric!
- Paper: For the small kits you can use regular 12x12 paper. Check out the new FLOCKED lines from Chatterbox's artsy.licious line. For large kits ask for our SPECIAL line of Asian papers. These aren't on the sales floor because they are SO awesome! We have them protected in the back.
- Pictures: Try a collage of pictures, or use printable fabric to make the cover.
- Clothes: Try your kid's football jersey for a fun school themed scrapbook.
- Baby Blanket: Want to remember that special time in your child's life? Try using a receiving blanket as the cover.
Whatever you choose, this album will be a reflection of YOUR LIFE so make it special!
Kits come in 12x12, 8x8, 4x6, and picture frames. 4x6 Album featured in photo above.

Wir Bauen fuer Sie
That's right, we're working hard for you! This week we bought enough shelves to improve several areas of our sales floor.
- New yarn cabinets: nice matching cabinets show off the beautiful colors of the yarn and separate them for easier storage
- Fabric in the hallway: Familiar with the sale hallway? We've made it better. We now have three levels of sale fabric and a new section for the basics - solids, marbles, and interfacings. Remember, it's one yard min on sale fabrics, and not everything in the hall is on sale!
- New shelves for bisque: Well, we're just completely redoing the pottery room. You guys have been really supportive of our new program and we want to make it even better! We will now have ALL our bisque on shelves ready to purchase. We will be adding to our current selection very soon. We have already purchased all new glazes and hope to get them organized this week.
- A new front door! You may have noticed that you can't get in the front door. That's because we are getting a new breezeway entrance. The door will still have sliding glass doors, but it will have a nice covered entryway where you can get out of weather and where we can display some art!
We love the shop and are always trying to find ways to improve. Let us know if you notice anything we could do better!

Get Digi With It!

Digital scrapbooking is all the rage in the US right now and Stuttgart Arts and Crafts is ready! We just received three brand spankin new fully loaded Dell XPS computers. And by fully loaded, I mean fully loaded! These computers are SWEET! They are ready to go with the newest Adobe software: CS3. This includes photoshop, illustrator, soundbooth, premiere, and some stuff I don't even know what it's for! They also have Adobe Photoshop Elements for those of you just needing a quick photo fix, or wanting to get into the Digi Scrapbooking era.
If you are already versed on this fantastic software, feel free to start using the computer lab for your self-help work. But if you need a little help getting over the learning curve, check the schedule for upcoming multi-media classes. Thanks Lizy for showing me how to run the software. Maybe I'll take your class! I used a page map from this website and the digital scrapbooking disks we sell in the store.
